NEW 2026 SUMMER CAMP OFFERINGS 

We are pleased to introduce a new, centralized way for families to explore our summer camp offerings. For the first time, all summer camps are viewable on our school website, allowing families to plan ahead and find options that best fit their child’s interests and schedule.

Families can browse camps by week or rising grade level, making it easy to compare offerings and build a summer plan. Each listing includes key details such as camp descriptions, dates, and eligibility information.

Please note that this page is for viewing and planning purposes only at this time. Registration will open in the coming weeks, and additional details will be shared soon. When registration opens, families will receive a direct registration link and QR code to complete registration and payment through Camp Network.

2nd Grade Summer Bridge

The Summer Bridge Camp is a fun and supportive program designed for rising 2nd graders to help them transition confidently into the new school year. The camp focuses on strengthening reading and math skills through engaging, hands-on activities and small-group instruction. Students participate in interactive lessons and educational games that reinforce key academic concepts while building confidence and a love of learning. In addition to academics, the camp emphasizes social skills, teamwork, and positive learning habits, helping students feel prepared, motivated, and excited for the upcoming school year.

Summer Bridge Program for Rising 4th–5th Graders

Power up your brain this summer! Reading & Math Recharge is a fun, focused summer bridge
program designed to help 4th–5th grade students review, practice, and strengthen essential
reading and math skills—without feeling like school.

What Does “Recharge” Mean?
Just like charging a battery, this program helps students refresh skills, boost confidence, and get
ready for the next school year. Each session includes guided support on students’ summer reading and math packets, fun games, and hands-on activities.

Program Details Schedule: One day per week Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Students participate in both Reading and Math each day, rotating sessions halfway through the morning.

Get a head start on your summer reading with this four-day interactive bridge camp. Campers will enjoy a read aloud of Lifeboat 12 (the 6th grade summer reading requirement) while engaging in meaningful discussions and activities. Students will also work on their assigned summer reading questions, gain a deeper understanding of the book, and work on comprehension skills. Prior reading of the book is not required.

8th Grade Math Boot Camp

This camp is designed for rising 8th graders. Each day, needed skills will be targeted to strengthen the math foundation needed for 8th grade math/Pre-Algebra. Students will need the math packet given to them by their 7th grade teacher (also available on the school website in PDF download form). Additional copies can be provided with advanced notice sent to lharris@parrottacademy.org. Supplementary materials for enhancement and camp games will be provided at the camp. Time will be devoted to helping with the summer math practice packet. Students with a cell phone/tablet/laptop should bring their device(s) for extra assistance with online tools that will be utilized during camp. PREFERABLY a tablet or laptop.

Advanced Speed and Agility Performance

Take your athletic performance to the next level in this advanced speed and agility training camp led by APA’s expert coaches. Designed for middle and high school athletes, this camp focuses on explosiveness, acceleration, change of direction, and sport-specific movement mechanics.

Through structured drills, competitive reps, and individualized feedback, athletes will train to improve speed, footwork, coordination, and overall athletic efficiency—skills that translate across all sports. With instruction from Coach Matt Beaman and former ECU Pirate Marc Washington, participants will develop stronger movement patterns, increased confidence, and a competitive edge.

Ideal for athletes looking to enhance performance, prepare for upcoming seasons, or build a stronger athletic foundation.

Campers should wear athletic clothing and tennis shoes. A water bottle is required; a snack is recommended.

AI Unlocked: Discover the Power and Limits of AI

June 10 - 11 | 12:30 - 3:30 pm | rising 8 -12 | $85

This two-day camp will introduce students to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and how it is becoming part of everyday learning and work. Students will explore what AI can do well, where it can fall short, and important ethical considerations, including bias, accuracy, and responsible use. The camp will also cover AI “hallucinations” and why AI tools sometimes produce incorrect or misleading information. Through hands-on activities, students will learn how to write effective prompts and use AI as a helpful classroom tool rather than a shortcut.

From Coast to Mountains: NC Weather Camp

This hands-on weather exploration camp invites students to become junior meteorologists as they investigate weather patterns, extreme storms, and the science behind North Carolina forecasts. Through engaging experiments, data tracking, and interactive projects, students explore topics such as clouds, precipitation, and severe weather while building observation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Graphing Calculator DEEPer DIVE

August 3 - 6 | 9 am - 12 pm | rising 9-12 | $165

This camp will focus on a deeper dive into uses that apply to Alg 1 and ABOVE. Not only will we utilize the Ti-84 PLUS CE graphing calculator (you MUST have your own), but also the DESMOS digital calculator app and online access as an option that has been built into state testing and other platforms. DESMOS is a convenient platform for use as an app on tablets and phones as well as website access. Rising Alg1 students MAY take this camp IF they completed the first camp "Graphing TECH NEWBIES". Students with more experience will also be welcomed to share their own favorite personal "likes" and uses with the calculator and skills they have found beneficial so far with graphing calculators.

Graphing TECH NEWBIES - Getting Accustomed to the Graphing Calculator

This camp is designed for RISING 8th/9th grade students specifically taking Algebra 1 for the 2026-2027 school year. Tips and introductions to the graphing calculator functions, menus, graphing capabilities and beyond as they apply to Algeba 1 concepts. Students who already have some personal experience will be invited to sharing their favorite function uses with the Ti-84 Plus CE calculator. We will also explore the DESMOS graphing calculator as an "app"/digital option for use on tablets, phones, and their website as students advance through high school and college.

Math Bridge to Middle School

This camp is designed for the students who are transitioning to middle school. Each day, needed skills will be targeted to strengthen the math foundation needed for 6th grade (Math 1). Students will need the math packet given to them by their 5th grade teacher (also available on the school website in PDF download). Additional copies can be provided with advanced notice sent to lharris@parrottacademy.org. Supplementary materials for enhancement and camp games will be provided at the workshop. Please bring a water bottle (with a top that securely closes) and any preferred snacks for 2 breaks. Some basic snacks will be provided.

SAT Boot Camp

SAT Boot Camp is an intensive, three-day program that helps students prepare to take the SAT in math, reading, and writing. The Camp focuses on test-taking strategies, content-review questions, and practice tests. The course will emphasize strategies to tackle the SAT effectively, such as time-management, question-analysis, and identification of common traps. Students will engage in numerous practice tests to build familiarity with the test format, to identify areas for improvement, and to clarify pertinent skills tested on the SAT.

Calling all Swifties! Get ready to shake it off and step into the spotlight at Swiftie Stars Camp, a fun and creative camp inspired by the music and eras of Taylor Swift—perfect for elementary-aged campers!

Throughout the week, campers will sing along to favorite (kid-friendly) songs, learn simple dance routines, create era-inspired crafts, play themed games, and explore self-expression through music and art. Our time at Swiftie Stars Camp will encourage confidence, friendship, creativity, and kindness.

No performance experience is needed—just a love for music, imagination, and having fun!

Taste and Create

Taste & Create is a fun and hands-on camp for rising 1st through 3rd graders!  Campers will explore the exciting world of food by tasting new flavors, making simple snacks, and enjoying hands-on activities.  From mixing and building to sampling and sharing, kids will learn through play and discovery.  Each day has its own special theme, giving campers a new food to learn about and a yummy snack to make.  Taste & Create is the perfect camp for kids who love to create, explore, and try something new… one bite at a time!

  • Week 7: July 20 - 23
The Middle of the Middle: 7th Grade Math Boot Camp

July 20 - 23 | 9 am - 12 pm | rising 7 | $165 
Instructor: Leigh Harris, Academic Center Tutor

This boot camp is designed to help prepare 7th graders for Pre-Algebra & Algebra 1. Needed skills will be targeted from the summer packet given by the 6th grade teachers. Additional skills recommended by the 6th/7th grade teachers will be added or given extra focus Observed needs will be incorporated and supplementation to the math packed (if needed and applicable) will be provided by Mrs. Harris.

Youth Cheer

Get ready to jump, stunt, and cheer at our Youth Cheer Camp for rising 4th–6th graders! This high-energy camp is designed to take young cheerleaders to the next level with cheers, jumps, stunting techniques, arts & crafts, and fun games! Campers will learn touchdown dances and even have their own curated cheers to perform! They'll show off their skills at the school pep rally, cheer on the youth football team at games, and take on a leadership role by helping guide Mini Cheerleaders at their events! If your child loves spirit, teamwork, and performing, this is the perfect camp for them!
