We’re glad you are visiting our school’s website and hope that you will come to see us on campus also. As you maneuver around our website and talk to folks about our school --- be they students, parents, trustees, teachers, coaches, or alumni --- there will probably be a number of common themes that will emerge. |
Another important aspect of our school which reminds us
every day why we are here is our school’s mission statement: Arendell
Parrott Academy upholds a tradition of fostering each student’s intellectual,
creative, social, physical, and moral development in a positive and challenging
educational community. This rendering of our raison d’etre
emphasizes that Parrott is a school that educates the whole child, not just any
one part. While getting into the college of your choice, winning basketball
games, being elected a class officer, getting a part in the school play, and
the like are all opportunities we offer, we are most satisfied when we can say that
our graduating seniors are good citizens who know right from wrong and will
make a positive contribution to society when they leave us.
Our school crest is
probably the easiest reminder of what we think is important for our students
and ourselves. The crest includes these important words: HONOR, TRUTH, and
INITIATIVE. Whether our students learn these worthwhile traits through
classroom discussions, an assembly on the topic of honor, exhibiting good
sportsmanship on the playing field, or simply feeling proud for trying their
best, we firmly believe that these words are our mission in short form. They
are the words by which to live, on campus and off.
