How to Apply to Transition or Kindergarten

I. INFORMATIONAL VISIT

Although not required before submitting an application, we encourage all prospective families to schedule an informational visit to the campus before applying for admission.  A typical visit includes a tour of campus, and an opportunity to learn more about the Academy’s programs.  Please contact the Admissions Office if you need additional information or would like to schedule a visit.

II. APPLICATION

Applications to the Academy are accepted throughout the year.  The first consideration deadline for transition or kindergarten admission is December 10 of the preceding school year. To begin the admission process, families complete an application and pay $550 ($300 tuition deposit and $250 application fee),

III. APPLICANT VISIT

The Admissions Office will contact parents of applicants for Transition and Kindergarten to visit during the January or February prior to enrollment.  During this visit, the student and parents will visit the transition, kindergarten and resource classes, finalize enrollment paperwork, and schedule the screening appointment.

IV.  COMMITMENT DEPOSIT

A commitment deposit of $500 is due by the end of February or within two weeks following the applicant visit. The deposit is credited toward tuition and is non-refundable.

V.  TEACHER EVALUATION
A confidential teacher evaluation is requested of all applicant’s preschool teacher. The Admissions Office provides forms and return envelopes for these confidential teacher evaluations. These forms are returned directly to the Admissions Office.

VI. TRANSITION/KINDERGARTEN SCREENING

Each applicant will be screened by the classroom teacher or Lower School counselor. The applicant's readiness for the Academy’s program is assessed using a combination of age-appropriate screening tools.

VI.  ENROLLMENT

An offer of enrollment will be made upon successful completion of the screening process.  A Tuition Agreement will be mailed shortly thereafter. In cases where no openings are available but the student meets the admissions criteria, the student may be placed on a waiting list. Preference for admission is given to siblings and children of alumni.
