Communications I - 7th Grade

Monday, August 18

Classwork:

• Introduction to class
• First journal entry - writing about writing

Homework:

• For Wednesday, purchase supplies as listed above and transfer "writing about writing" onto the third page of your journal (leaving room for a table of contents)

Tuesday, August 19

Classwork:

• Pass out text books and Wordly Wise
• Begin name poem

Homework:

• Read essay, "What is a Journal?" and respond to the prompt, "How is your journal like good friend?"  Write at least half a page.  Bring to class Wednesday.
• For Thursday, bring in typed copy of your name poem.  It should be visually attractive and use no more than half of a page.

Wednesday, August 20

Classwork:

• Discuss class expectations for the year
• Share ideas about first journal entry, writing about writing
• Discuss essay in class, "What is a journal?"

Homework:

• For Friday, discuss course outline with parents and have them sign it
