Arendell Parrot Academy

The Mothers’ Committee provides parental support to the faculty and staff through volunteer services in a wide realm of activities organized into subcommittees listed below.

Commercial Fundraising - (Alice Arthur, Tracy Stohrer) Oversees the "Food for Thought" gift card program offering gift cards to Food Lion and Lowes Foods, Food Lion Community Way Days, Harris Teeter rebate program and other related projects.

Archive - (Dana Newell, Kristal Kypson) Preserves all APA news through various media outlets throughout the region.  A "news bureau" portal is maintained of all promotional activities for our school. 

Grade Mothers - (Liz Barringer) Works with teachers in grades T-5 in planning field trips, parties, and class projects; organizes parent volunteers to help with the same. 

Grandparents and Special Friends Day - (Karen Frank, Anne Nuckolls) Coordinates fall visitation day for these special guests in grades T-5.  Works with faculty and grademother chair to coordinate activities; oversees Grandparent Valentine Program for T-12 in February. 

Grounds - (Katherine Gray) Recommends improvements and visual enhancements to the campus, including landscaping and maintenance.

House and Hospitality - (Amy Viscardi, Maria Cho) Coordinates food and decorations for various events such as Opening Day Coffee, Open House receptions, and retirement and special events.

Library - (Virginia Means) Works with librarian to organize The Wishing Tree, Book Fair, and library volunteers. 

School Store - (Lissa Grice, Betsy Mohrfield) Responsible for ordering, sales, and distribution of school logo items such as clothing and novelties; maintains and mans the school store located in main lobby. 

Special Events - (Beth Apperson) Organizes activities during Staff and Teacher Appreciation Weeks and other events as needed.

Wrapping Paper Sales - (Amy Davis, Amy Hill) Responsible for annual Sally Foster wrapping paper campaign held at the beginning of school year.  Click on the LINK BELOW to place your order on-line. Remember to enter APA's code (0358804) so that the school receives credit for your order.
