ARENDELL PARROTT ACADEMY

Last winter,196 students, representing over 15,000 hours of service were inducted into SERV
at our 10th Anniversary Induction Ceremonies
March 14, 2007

Dec. 31 was the final day to
earn SERV hours for this year.
You may now begin your 2008 SERV hours.

It is the student's responsibility to confirm
that documentation is on file with Mrs. Moye by the deadline date.
Most students find it helpful to review their SERV hours before the Christmas holidays OR
keep all of their documentation for the whole year in one file and then turn it all in at once.
It is fine to turn in hours as you go along, or wait until the end - whatever works best for you.

Specific guidelines for documentation and a downloadable form
are available below.

Remember that students earning over 100 hours in a calendar year are recognized as Presidential Service Scholars at our end-of-year awards ceremonies.
Seniors with over 100 hours are also eligible
to apply for one of our two annual service scholarships.

Each January, Mrs. Moye enters all service hours into individual service records. Each student will then sign to verify that his record is accurate, and invitations to join SERV will be extended.
SERV induction will be held in early March.

Upcoming service trip: Over Winter Break in Feb. '08, 22 high school students and 6 adult chaperones will travel to Guatmela to work in a school in Xojola. The service team was selected based on student applications. Selection criteria focused on the record of service hours that the applicant had turned in for the previous year. For this trip, each member of the team had given a minimum of 50 hours locally in the previous year.
